in like a lamb
Vancouver favoured us with a with a sun showered start to autumn, hiking her skirt a bit to show us what we were missing in June and most of July. This view is this morning looking north across southeast false creek.

i've been absent blogwise for a bit, distracted by family friends and work, damn their eyes. been finishing some worthwhile books…. i'll try to float some new thoughts with the next tide.

Deering Island
Biking a week ago, we followed the edge of the Fraser and discovered an interesting sliver of the city. A little high-end enclave (to the right in photo) of manicured gardens and backyard jetties.
westside coyote
Spotted this coyote making its way back to Pacific Spirit park. Didn't register our presence or seem to care. Just kept on its way past our vehicle. I've seen a number of coyotes over the years, usually at dawn or dusk. This mid-day sighting was unusual.

Festival of Lights
Tonight we enjoyed, as we do each year, the Festival of Lights at Van Dusen Botanical Garden. Not as spectacular this time without a snowy dressing. Still, it twinkled with the usual magic.

Looking west from the tower at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary last week, before ice and snow began to maul Vancouver.

High winds drove 4 sailboats on to Kits Beach this morning.
this one did not look particularly well suited for a sea breeze, let alone 40 knot winds. It looks like a canoe with a treehouse clued to the gunwhales.
